PLYMOUTH HOE HOE HOE

I must say it's been great seeing our friends and we had a bit of sunshine amongst the heavy rains in Plymouth. Managed a few walks and Friday afternoon some real warm sun meant we could sit outside and read. Picture below shows one of the walks and the torrent of a river running down from Dartmoor.

We manage to look reasonably cheerful despite the rain.

Met Roger, Jan & Steve in Plymouth for a pizza.

Finally a sunny Friday!
Invited round to Rog and Jan for tea on Saturday; very tasty homemade Cornish pasty. Had to leave early because public transport not the area's strong point. Train at 7:28pm or 10:30pm the latter of which would have meant missing the last bus. Makes you realise how lucky us cityfolk are. Gales and non-stop rain into Sunday we leave for Wyke Regis near Weymouth to see our friends Julia and Steve. Frankly if we were not seeing friends on our tour we would have headed home. We have a grassy pitch into which our home has just sunk. Still raining. Before we left sunny Didsbury I wondered whether packing 3 pairs of shorts was enough. I think it might be!
Until the next time.

UK TRIP - PT 1

Hi everybody,
So we are on our travels again. A 6 or 7 week journey taking in loads of friends and family and enjoying our beautiful spring! First a picture to cheers us all up from our recent visit to Australia. All say aaah.

Our first stop on this visit took us to Newport in South Wales and meeting up with college friend Graham, his wife Penny and my godson Phil. A lovely few days spent eating, drinking and catching up and enjoying the brief sunny spells. We stayed in a National Trust campsite in parkland next to Tredegar House which was a bonus. Many thanks to Graham & Penny for their hospitality.

Last Sunday we left for Plymouth stopping off in a downpour of biblical proportions at another NT property Tyntesfield. There was a waiting time to get in of over 3 hours and so wet were the conditions we took a quick picture and left. Another time maybe.

We arrived at the Riverside Campsite in heavy rain and until today Friday 27 April it has rained at some time every day. Anyway we have seen our friends Roger (who I shared a house with about 35 years ago! and his wife Jan and quite fortuitously another friend Steve who happened to be working in Exeter. So lots to catch up on and more photos next blog. We took our bikes out for the first time on Tuesday and cycled to the nearby NT property Saltram House, pictured below along with some resident Guinea Fowl.

I will try and send another post on Sunday; then one a week on Sundays.
love
