Our journey continues; or rather doesn't as we are still in Torre del Mar. There are great cycle tracks along the prom as well as to some wetlands from where the below view back to the town was taken.
The wetlands where P is standing (with bull monument in far distance) might have been better had it not been for the anarchic Spaniards. If there is a sign saying no cars, no motorbikes and no dogs, the locals will go to any lengths to take their vehicles and families down tracks scarcely wide enough and so rough they will almost certainly cause tyre damage. Once they have gone as far as they can, they will release the dogs to wreak havoc amongst the wildlife. Indeed anywhere where there are parallel walking and cycling tracks you can rest assured the Spanish will walk on the cycle path and cycle on the pedestrian walkway. I blame the Spanish Civil War!
Probably a ringed plover below.
This is probably a grey plover.
This is certainly a lesser spotted Pauline.
I believe this is a spotted redshank.
This is me about to bike down the prom. Pauline not quite got the hang of the zoom yet!
We got a bus to Malaga and felt obliged to visit the Cathedral but felt a bit ripped off at 5 euros each and not even Mr Nighy to guide us. The interior was pretty impressive though.
And the exterior quite imposing.
Before lunch a visit to the Alcazaba and views over the port.
Pretty Moorish patios.
Further views as we climbed higher to the Castillo de Gibralfaro.
The bullring below.
And some nicely landscaped gardens.
And more views
before lunch at what we thought might be a vegetarian restaurant called Lechuga (lettuce). Another Spaniards don't quite 'get' is vegetarianism. A simple green salad once ordered will usually arrive with a bit of ham or anchovy or something similar on top. At a restaurant in Torre they (my translation) welcomed vegetarians and suggested they try the Prawns in garlic. A review of Lechuga claimed they did amazing things with vegetables. We were therefore slightly wary whether we going to a restaurant or a sleazy cabaret act! Fortunately it was the former although its main courses didn't include one vegetarian option. Good food though.
We'll be on our way soon but probably no wifi for a few days so this is probably the weekend blog. Thanks again for J&A comments. I hope they are not the only ones reading the blog otherwise I might feel a bit silly.

Lovely towns and wildlife. Why are all the birds (excluding Pauline!) looking left to right? Is that 'The only way is Torre del Mar' ?
